September 30th 🧡 Formerly known as Orange Shirt September 30th 🧡
Formerly known as Orange Shirt Day, this date is now recognized as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation—one of the 94 Calls to Action outlined by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
It is vital for Canada to acknowledge and understand the colonial violence forced upon Indigenous peoples and communities: the residential school system, the 60s Scoop, missing and murdered Indigenous women and 2-Spirit peoples, modern-day child and family services, cultural erasure and genocide, and the intergenerational trauma Survivors, families, and Indigenous peoples as a whole continue to face.
For generations, Indigenous peoples have carried the work of reconciliation themselves. This week can be draining, heavy, and triggering. We see you—lifting your families and communities, creating change, breaking cycles, and carrying the impossible weight of a burden that was never yours to bear. Please protect your wellbeing.
To our Indigenous kin—Survivors, families, and communities feeling today’s weight: take time for yourself, rest your heart, and do what uplifts your spirit.
To our non-Indigenous kin—if you feel the need to be performative this week, don’t. Instead, commit to learning and unlearning. Do not place your guilt onto Indigenous peoples who are grieving and carrying these burdens. Do not expect us to educate you about our trauma—take responsibility for your own learning. ———

✨ What a night! ✨ We’re so grateful to have ✨ What a night! ✨

We’re so grateful to have been honoured at Indigenous Heritage Night with the @torontoargos this past Friday. 🏈💙

Shoutout to our very own Chris Merkel for absolutely shining in his on-field interview — we’re so proud of you!

And a big congrats to Deltone and Cheyenne for winning the draw and kicking off the first activation of the game by bringing the ball out onto the field before kickoff 🏈 — you both did an amazing job!

A heartfelt thank you to Matthew Black (Director, Culture & Inclusion, Toronto Argonauts & Toronto FC) and Laura McPhie (Indigenous Advisor, MLSE) for making this celebration possible. Your support means the world, and we loved sharing the night with our community.
