Ojibiikaan is an Indigenous-led nonprofit offering land, food and culture based programming in Toronto.

This trip we are very honoured to be joined by award-winning Inuk children's author Sarahbeth Holden, who will be guiding us through some Strawberry Teachings as well as holding a book reading of her latest release, "Strawberry Sundaes"! We will also be indulging in a delicious Strawberry brunch - we invite you to bring your feast bundles, and remind folks that lunch will be provided, but to please bring your own snacks! 

Sarabeth is an award-winning author and children's writer based in Toronto, ON, and she's Anaana to two inspirational little boys. Together with her husband Sean,  owns Red Tape Brewery in the east end of Toronto. Sarabeth, who is Inuit from the community of Pangnirtung, Nunavut, was born in Halifax and raised between New Brunswick and Nunavut. She is also known for her delightful book, 'Benny the Bananasaurus Rex,' which captures the imagination of children everywhere.

Miigwetch to everyone who came out to our Corn Pla Miigwetch to everyone who came out to our Corn Planting Ceremony yesterday at Crawford Lake 🌽

It was a beautiful day spent in the gardens, surrounded by teachings, medicine, community, and connection to the land. Thank you to everyone who listened, shared their knowledge and bundles, expanded their learning, and lent a helping hand throughout the day.

We are so grateful to gather in these spaces together and continue carrying these teachings forward. Miigwetch for being a part of it
Ojibiikaan and NCCT EarlyON invite you to join us Ojibiikaan and NCCT EarlyON invite you to join us in our May Corn Planting Crawford Lake trip.

We will be joined by Elder Kitty Lynn and Knowledge Keeper Adrienne Xavier who will guide us through our corn planting, Knowledge Keeper Viola Day who will open our garden space in ceremony, and opening and closing songs from Jenny Blackbird.
